Arizonans for Children is a local nonprofit that has been serving children in foster care since 2002. Our mission is to alleviate hardships and improve the lives of the abused, abandoned, neglected children in foster care. Through our various programs and events, we have served over 1,000,000 people!

 

While removing children from dangerous settings provides needed safety, entering the foster care system does not assure a “normal childhood.” This challenging journey often involves multiple moves, inconsistent caregiving, and emotional trauma stemming from feeling helpless and isolated. Our mentor program is one way that we can help alleviate the impact these events can have. We pair a volunteer with a child in care for a one-on-one relationship. The mentor can do so many things with their mentee to help build social and academic skills, but ultimately they are providing individual attention and friendship to a child who needs someone to guide them.

 

Arizonans for Children also provides two visitation centers in the valley. A key part of helping Arizona children who have been removed from their homes is helping them maintain contact with their siblings and parents. Our centers provide safe and comfortable spaces for these visits to take place.
